ELECTIONS

Monitoring mission in Ukraine

In the period from February 10 to March 31 European Network of Elections Monitoring Organizations – ENEMO realized a monitoring mission on parliamentary elections in Ukraine held on March 26 2006.

 

CeSID, as one of the founders and members of ENEMO took an active part in all activities of the mission. Apart from in-country support activities, CeSID provided 2 out of 8 Core Members of the mission, 6 out of 42 Long Term Observers (LTO), as well as 22 out of 330 members of the team of Short Term Observers (STO). With such representation, CeSID became proportionally the most numerous organization within the mission. The main objectives of the mission were monitoring and evaluation of the pre-elections process, as well as of the course of the election day of the parliamentary elections in Ukraine . The final press conference was held at Media Center in Kiev . Peter Nowtony, secretary general of ENEMO and chief of the mission, Marko Ivkovic CeSID's official deputy, and Ljilja Sibanova, director of NVO Golos ( Russia ). On this occasion an official report was presented to the journalists.

National Democratic Institute (NDI) and Freedom House supported the mission, and all organizations provided, apart from running costs, observers at all levels free of charge.
