PROGRAMS

CeSID has developed its activities within 5 basic programmes, each encompassing various projects:

Elections

This programme encompasses the projects of the monitoring of electoral process. In Serbia, those are the projects of monitoring the voting at about 9,000 polling stations in 165 municipalities in Serbia, parallel vote tabulation, analysis of electoral process and procedure, research of the media, education of monitors and voters and GOTV campaigns. Moreover, we conducted a series of projects encompassing international co-operation and participation in elections monitoring processes in a respective number of countries.

Education

This programme was commenced with the education of monitors, citizens, representatives of authorities and political parties in the fields of electoral process and legislature. Those were followed by education in the fields of prevention and resolution of conflicts, political system, human rights, decentralisation process and development of local self-government, identification of key social issues, and civil sector development. Our target groups have varied from secondary school students, citizens, representatives of authorities and non-governmental sector, to the elections monitoring organisations in other countries which we provided with capacity building support.

Local Community Development

This programme represents the field in which CeSID has accomplished remarkable results, above all due to its extensive network and ability to conduct its activities in every municipality in Serbia. The projects conducted in this field are related to education of citizens of local communities, local authorities and administrations, researches of public opinion on problems of local communities, monitoring of work of local authorities and municipal administrations, monitoring of procedures in municipalities, establishment of co-operation between civil sector and local authorities, as well as improvement of capacities of the non-governmental sector on local level.

Researches and Analyses

CeSID has developed its research and analytical activities parallel with conducting the projects in different fields. We have conducted researches and analyses of electoral behaviour and electoral contests, political attitudes of citizens and target groups, and behaviour during elections campaigns, as well as sociological, political, economic and marketing researches. In that respect, we have employed different research techniques, field researches with different types of research samples, institutional analyses, etc.

Fight against Corruption

This ever present and tense matter, which requires permanent efforts and fight against bribe, corruption and negative effects of the money in politics and society, represents a new challenge for CeSID. Several projects and researches are related to this issue and we are investing continual efforts and knowledge to help the society to decrease and restrict the negative effects caused by this phenomenon.
